Great start! This is not about a government funding lapse (i.e.. shutdown) as we have defined that term. This is about the ending of a contract that provides the service (github enterprise).

The repository itself needs to be extracted (git clone) to preserve all stuff inside the repo, typical any git type actions.

This is really about "what happens if we lose github", so this document is one aspect of other things.

The tools team does have a plan, so it doesn't sound as bleak as originally imagined.

Yeah, I had a conversation with ADSD tools and they are in planning for an emerg migration to Gitlab if needed. They already have code for the full extract and hydrate, now it's a matter of working with teams to make it happen if it needs to happen, while they are testing things out. So I think we are good for now.

Sort of. There are still a lot of things to work out, but it's not a complete loss of a git service.
